From July 11 to July 14 2017, a study trip to Austria was organized within the project "Program of Measures and Activities for Improving the Condition of Beech and Oak Forests in the Republic of Serbia", implemented by the State Enterprise "Srbijašume" with the Institute of Silviculture of the Vienna BOKU.
The study tour participants are all with forestry background: forestry engineers from SE Srbijašume (113 in total from all the forest estates and forest administrations), PE “Šume Goč” and the Forest Directorate.
According to the study program, lectures were held at the Faculty of Forestry in Vienna, and a visit was paid to the Austrian State Forest Company - Österreichische Bundesforste (ÖBf).
Our forestry engineers had the opportunity to become familiar with onsite methods of operating in the Austrian state forests and to identify mutual similarities and differences in managing high beech and oak forests, silvicultural techniques in coppice, coppice-with-standards and high forests in several locations.
The Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Vienna organized a reception for a delegation made up of forest estate representatives. On this occasion the delegation was welcomed by the Ambassador of the RS to Austria, Mr. Pero Janković.
