With the clean-up action of the right bank of the River Drina, the State Enterprise “Srbijašume” marked June 5, the World Environment Day. Activists of the “Naša Drina” Association, members of numerous local associations and residents of Mali Zvornik and surrounding places also took part in the action, and the Municipality of Mali Zvornik and PUC “Drina” Mali Zvornik provided logistic support. The bank of the Drina River was cleaned in the parts of the local community Centar and Zvornik Lake, from the beach in Sakar to Velika Reka.
“Our entire past and present are related to the Drina, and that is why we are obliged to protect both the river and the lake as well as their banks; among other things, that will set an example for the younger generations. It is important that care is being taken of the Drina, not just on a day-to-day basis, but rather continuously, because its blessings are before us every moment, so it would be right to treat it respectfully, responsibly and conscientiously. I am glad that a large number of nature lovers, friends, guardians and fighters for the beauty of nature in this area have participated in our action. The aim of this action was exactly to point at the fact that nature can only be preserved through joint efforts,” said the acting director of SE “Srbijašume”, Igor Braunović.
The theme of this year’s World Environment Day is “Ecosystem Restoration”, which includes the restoration of forest, agricultural, river, marine and other living communities.
State Enterprise “Srbijašume” participates in the daily care of our country’s forest ecosystem through regular processes of improving the condition of existing forests and raising new forests. The optimal forest cover, which the Enterprise constantly strives for, has a positive effect on climate change, water/air quality, and flora and fauna.
