At the initiative of acting director Igor Braunović, SE “Srbijašume” will mark June 5 – the World Environment Day – by a clean-up action of the right bank of the Drina River, together with representatives of the Municipality of Mali Zvornik, PUC “Drina” Mali Zvornik, “Naša Drina” Association and many other local associations. The aim of this action is to influence the raising of the general public’s environmental awareness and point out that only together we can preserve nature.
The gathering of participants is scheduled for Saturday at 10 am on the plateau/platform “Šetalište” on the Drina river bank in Mali Zvornik, and everyone is welcome to join the action.
The World Environment Day was established by the United Nations in 1972, at the Conference on the Human Environment held in Stockholm. Since then, every June 5 has been marked around the world with various environmental actions and campaigns in order to draw the attention of the general public to the importance of preserving the environment. The theme of this year’s World Environment Day is “Ecosystem Restoration”, which includes the restoration of forest, agricultural, river, marine and other living communities.
State Enterprise “Srbijašume” participates in the daily care of our country’s forest ecosystem through regular processes of improving the condition of existing forests and raising new forests. The optimal forest cover, which the Enterprise constantly strives for, has a positive effect on climate change, water/air quality, and flora and fauna.
